Wigan boss Roberto Martinez says his team are ready to mount another end-of-season run to avoid relegation from the Premier League, after losing 4-1 at Chelsea. Goals from Ramires, Eden Hazard, Marko Marin, and Frank Lampard gave Chelsea the win, with Shaun Maloney scoring for the visitors. But Martinez said afterwards he is focused on getting all his players fit and prepared to play their part in closing games of the season, in a bid to replicate the good form they produced at the end of the last campaign to save themselves from the drop.

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini stunned reporters as he walked into a press conference this morning wearing a David Platt mask.It was the Italian’s way of joking with journalists after a couple of fiery exchanges last week.Mancini was irritated by certain questions before and after his side’s Champions League draw with Ajax 10 days ago and then did not attend pre- or post-match press conferences for last weekend’s clash with Tottenham.On those occasions first-team coach Platt spoke on his behalf and it was that Mancini was referring to by wearing a mask of the former England international.
